Ivacy VPN Review

The number of VPN service providers is on the rise thanks to the growing demand for online privacy. A lot of these VPN services basically promises the same things and that is to provide the best solution for unblocking the internet.

The internet is often being swarmed by threats that can put users’ wellbeing in jeopardy. In order to protect one’s self from any potential threats online, he needs to make use of a reliable VPN service for all internet-related activities.

When choosing the right VPN to use, it is important to always check the company’s track record if it has a reputation of providing a reliable VPN service or the opposite. Most VPN experts usually recommend subscribing to a VPN service that isn’t newly established. One of the longest-running VPN services in the market today is called Ivacy.

The question now is can we trust Ivacy? Is Ivacy’s VPN service even satisfactory or is it one of those early VPNs that never really progressed? Let’s find out in this Ivacy VPN review.

About Ivacy

It was as early as 2007 when Ivacy started offering its VPN service to the public mass. It was only recently when the team behind the Ivacy project decided to perform a major rework of the VPN service to make it even better. The VPN service is currently based out in Singapore.

Logging Policy

Ivacy says it does not log users’ activities and traffic. According to the VPN service the only log it keeps is the server access attempts. Based from the current laws in place in Hong Kong, there are no specific laws mandating ISPs and VPNs from logging user activities. Users can have a peace of mind knowing that Hong Kong does not have any data retention laws.

Service Features

In 2015 the VPN company had revamped its VPN service to provide better and more stable connections. Ivacy offers a VPN service that allows for anonymous browsing habits. If you intend to access streaming channels that are normally geo-blocked, then Ivacy can also help you bypass such restrictions.

The VPN network uses a military-grade encryption system to guarantee users of their privacy and online security. Users can also connect 5 devices at the same time with one single account. The VPN company does not limit or throttle speed as a matter of fact it even provide unlimited bandwidth, 99% uptime and unlimited server switches.

Ivacy was the very first VPN company to offer a Split tunnelling feature. Users will also enjoy secure and anonymous P2P file-sharing habits. It also offers an Internet Kill Switch feature.

Payment Methods

Ivacy accept various payment methods including PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, Amex, UnionPay, Perfect Money, WebMoney and Bitcoin. Paying with Bitcoins will ultimately hide your identity online. Ivacy states that it cares about its users’ privacy and accepting Bitcoin is one way to maximize online privacy.

Quality of Customer Support

With a revamped VPN service comes with a new and improved customer after sales support as well. Before the rework done on the VPN service, Ivacy only provided support via email. Gladly things are looking up for Ivacy as today it now offer ticketing system, email support, phone support and a 24/7 live chat feature.

Users can also ask their queries via the VPN company’s social media channels including Facebook and Twitter. When it comes to the reliability of Ivacy’s customer support, we believe that it still needs a bit of improvement though. Live chat feature isn’t really available all the time, response time is not as instantaneous as we expect it to be.

There is a Support Page though that answers all the common questions that users have. Whether it’s technical issues or account and billing concerns, users can check the solutions via the Support Page.

Supported Protocols and Devices

The improved Ivacy is now compatible with various security protocols and devices. You can setup Ivacy on your desktop and mobile device at the same time. Ivacy supports Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS, gaming consoles, Smart TVs and wireless routers. Ivacy supports different protocols including PPTP, L2TP/IPSec, SSTP and OverVPN. Ivacy also offers dedicated client apps for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.

You can check the Setup Guides to configure Ivacy into your device of choice.

Speed and Overall Performance

After conducted a series of speed tests we reckon that Ivacy provides fast and stable connections. There were a bit of speed drops but they weren’t really noticeable. Speeds via P2P servers are actually fine too.

Conclusion

We are really pleased with the new and improved Ivacy VPN service. The overall performance of the VPN network was satisfactory. Customer support is needs more improvement though. We would rate Ivacy 8/10 with the overall results we got during our test run of the VPN service.
